Loves Her Gun is a cautionary tale of crime, guns and transformation. The narrative film follows Allie Perkins as she leaves Brooklyn, New York, having been the victim of a violent crime. With no job and an uneasy social life she is happy to leave it behind. She hooks up with an absurd band of karate rock musicians from Austin and embarks on a band road trip down to Texas. Once in Austin, she enjoys settling into the slower-paced lifestyle as she tries to regain her confidence. She lands a job as a landscaper and makes several new friends including Clark Rodriguez, a recent transplant from Mexico who is smitten by her. Despite her seeming improvement, her anxieties and fears still haunt her. She quickly falls into local gun culture as a means to feel safe, but begins walking a fine line between reasonable self preservation and paranoid withdrawal. As she spends more time on the shooting range than she does in her apartment, can she maintain healthy relationships, or will the weapons she uses to protect herself actually cause new problems worse than the ones she was fleeing?
